Newt's Surf Fish Tacos

Newt's Surf Fish Tacos:
Ingredients:
Beer batter: 1 cup of all purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of salt and pepper (each), 1 cup of beer.
Cream Sauce: 1/3 cup of mayonnaise, 2/3 cup of mexican cream, a squeeze of lime,  2 table spoons of fresh lemon juice, 2 tablespoons of water, a little salt and pepper.
Fish Tacos: Oil for frying, 1 cup of all purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of salt, pepper, corn tortillas, 2 cups shredded cabbage, 2 cups of tomatillo salsa.
Directions:
Beer Battered: Mix the flour, salt and pepper in a medium size bowl. Gradually add in the beer while whisking. Set aside and let the batter rest for 15 minutes before using.
Cream Sauce: Add the mayonnaise and crema to a medium bowl. Whisk in the lemon zest, lemon juice and water. Season, to taste, with salt and pepper.
In a large skillet, over medium heat, add enough oil to reach a depth of 1-inch. Heat the oil until a deep-fry thermometer registers 350 degrees F or when the end of a wooden spoon sizzles when inserted into the oil.

On a large plate, combine the flour and salt. Season the fish pieces all over with salt and pepper and coat with the flour. Working in batches, dip the fillets in the beer batter and coat on both sides. Fry in the hot oil until golden brown and cooked through, about 5 minutes. Transfer to paper towels to drain.

Make tacos with the tortillas and fish and top each with cream, shredded cabbage, tomatillo salsa and pickled jalapenos, if desired.

Health Benefits From Surfing

Health Benefits that come from Surfing in the Ocean
Newt's Surf Co.

It is now scientifically proven that surfing may just be the best medicine for a variety of ailments. Surfing can cure Depression, Back Pain, Boredom, Improve Attitude, Releases Stress, and much more. They attribute it mostly to the Vitamin D intake, which improves blood flow and releases chemicals in the brain to change your mood.

The Physical Benefits
Most of the physical aspect of surfing is paddling, surfing is a lot of paddling. The benefits from paddling; cardiovascular fitness, shoulder and back strength - these muscles will get stronger from lots of paddling, leg and core strength - once you're on a wave and standing you're core and legs will do the rest of the work.  Surfing is a great workout, some surfers can surf up to 4 hours with the right conditions.

The Psychological Benefits
Physical exertion with intense focus (reading and watching the waves) often produce flow states which flood the brain with Neurochemicals like Anandamide; which creates a better mood, releases stress  and more. It as been reported that breaking waves can release negative ions in  the air which are thought to improve mood. To sum it all up surfing has many benefits and is good for the soul. Breakfast Surf Quesadillas

Breakfast  Surf Quesadillas

Ingredients:
2 Flour Tortillas
2-3 Eggs
1 teaspoon of Butter or Vegetable Oil
2 table spoons of cheese (use your favorite cheese, cheddar, Provolone, etc.)
Bacon, Ham, Sausage (Some kind of breakfast meat, I always go with bacon)
Avocado, Salsa, Sour Cream, Pico de Gallo (what ever side you want)

Cooking Tools:
Nonstick Skillet
Bowl
Spatula
Plate
Fork

Directions:

First, you need to cook the meat, if you are adding meat to the quesadilla. I always use a little bit of bacon in my quesadilla. Heat up your Nonstick Skillet, then lay the bacon strips on the skillet. Let them cook on both sides until ready. Once they're done, remove they from the skillet with the fork and place them on the plate. Crack the eggs into the bowl and scramble (whisk) them with the fork, then poor them into the hot skillet. The goal is to make scrambled eggs for the quesadilla, when its done cooking remove the eggs from the skillet and place them on the plate with the bacon. Then add the butter to the hot skillet, let it melt all around, then place the first floor tortilla on the skillet. After that place the eggs, bacon and cheese on the tortilla in the skillet. Then place the second tortilla on top, you are looking to melt the cheese inside the quesadilla and trying to get a golden brown color on the tortilla. Use the spatula to help flip the quesadilla. When all ready remove it from the skillet and onto the plate. Then cut the quesadilla into quarters, then serve with pico de gallo or salsa, avocado, and sour cream on top.

6 Rules to Surfing Etiquette

6 Rules of Surfing:

1. Be Safe, Be Patient, and Have Fun!
2.Who Gets the Next Wave?
The person closest to the curl (breaking part of the wave) has the “right of way.” If the wave is breaking right, the surfer to the outside (furthest left), or closest to the curl, is in position to catch the wave. The reverse is true of a left-breaking wave. Communication is key when catching waves, so call out which way you're going.
3.Respect the Beach and the Locals
You want to keep it light and fun, and hassles with locals will certainly sour your session. Some spots are known for intense localism, while others are mellow.
4. Paddle Around the Take-Off Zone
Paddle around a defined peak or take-off spot to avoid oncoming surfers. A surfer dropping in to a wave has little room to maneuver around you.
5. Hold on to Your Equipment.
Surf leashes enable you to spend more time surfing than swimming. However, the leash is best used as a tool of last resort, and not as a means to power through breaking waves. When confronted by a breaking wave, you should try your best to hold on to your board and not let it fly off behind you.
A surfboard has many sharp points, and should be kept under control. If it is difficult for you to control your surfboard, you should choose a less crowded spot until you have mastered the duck dive, or other wave-avoiding techniques.
6.Share the wealth
Don't be wave hog. Sharing is caring
